New Year – New You?

January 15, 2021

Happy New Year!

We all prepare for the start of a new year thinking about a clean slate, a chance to reset, restructure goals, and make those dreaded resolutions.  We have searched the social media, we have talked to our colleagues, friends and clients and we have seen some new year/new me trends we would like to share.

Focus on the inner you- So often when the new year arrives, we are feeling that holiday guilt from over indulgence. Stop feeling guilty! We have had a tough year folks. This year lets start with making our minds and hearts happy, then we can move on to any of those extra holiday lbs.  We can focus on our inner selves in a many ways. Here are a few.

Join a bookclub – Reese Witherspoon has a great book club. You can join here  Oprah and Deepak Chopra have great online book lists.  Here and here.  Or if you want to start your own, its a great way to connect with friends, friends of friends, or neighbors. There are some tips are starting your own here.  How to start your own book club – Tips and Tricks.

Donate your time (or maybe your items of excess)-  Nothing feels better than the accomplishment of helping others. If your passion is helping our furry friends you can volunteer for Austin Pets Alive!.  Is the environment your heart?  There are waterfront, road and neighborhood cleanups or schools in your area that could use help with their campus gardens. With all of the students learning in different ways this year, you can use your expertise to tutor virtually to some students in schools that struggle with funds and availability to tutoring.

Practice patience, kindness, and appreciation – We are not talking just with others or with your colleagues at the office. We are talking about taking the time to appreciate yourself. Be kind to what you need. Be patient with your self, your process, and your life.   Take time for you. Read a great book RealSimple curated a great list to read (so far) in 2021.  Try mediation with an an app like Calm or Headspace. Take an herbal tea and hide, we love Good Earth spicy herbal tea, or The Republic of Tea’s chamomile.

Get outside and breath –  It is so important to breath fresh air, soak in the sunshine and free your body of the restraints of that home office chair. Take a few moments each day to take a walk, or skip down your sidewalk. Ride your bike or dance on your back patio. Taking a few moments for yourself outside can be some really great vitamin D therapy.

Focus on your Finances – Sounds complex…some folks have it all figured out, some don’t. Wherever you are in life, there are some things to focus on in the new year.  What we would like to focus on is how Real Estate ownership and investment can change your portfolio and your future.  Whether you own your home, are looking to upgrade, sell, remodel, buy a second home, or buy an investment property – we can help. Real Estate is the most stable investment you can make.
